We were surrounded by song and breeding birds at Rice Lake NWR in
Minnesota. The day started with the wonderful eery song of snipe and
continued with several special experiences: Sedge Wrens in territorial
display, Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers feeding a family in a nest cavity,
and Black Terns foraging in close channels. Add egg laying turtles and a
black bear, and you can imagine how much fun we had!
