This owl was banded at Westchester Community College, outfitted with a radio transmitter, and released on campus on Nov 12th at 12:30 am. The video shows the sequence of movements of this hatching year female, first moving to the edge of campus, and then to a residential area just west of campus. For about two weeks, she roosted in the residential area during the day, in a tall white pine tree at the top of a hill, and hunted during the night, in a wooded area with a small stream, across the Sprain Parkway. During the third week, she moved a little west to hunt in a wooded section near an industrial park along the Saw Mill River Parkway. |
